Halifax: Day Two, Soggy

If my first day in Halifax was unseasonably beautiful, my second day was seasonally typical. A constant mist hung in the air all day, making it impossible to see the other side of the harbour from the balcony of Tim's apartment. It cleared up after dark, and I tried some night photography from the balcony.

It was very lazy photography, and I used it as an opportunity to figure out mirror up mode, how it interacts with live view and more. Mirror up mode is used to shoot when the goal is to reduce camera shake as much as possible. Since all the night shots I took were at 200mm, it was very easy to make the camera shake. Mirror up mode helped.

The smoke stacks from the famous Dartmouth coal burning power plant, the harbour bridge, and a boat.

A smaller dock almost directly across the harbour.

A pine tree on the close shore of the harbour, silhouetted against the harbour and reflected lights.

  2. It's been fun... Yesterday was a bit of a write off and today is overcast but not raining. Tomorrow is going to be sunny, and if we get anything from Igor it will be then (waves, etc.).
